KDF WELCOMES MURUAI RESIDENTS BACK HOME

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) have extended a warm welcome to residents of Muruai Oolkidemi village, Baringo County, who were recently resettled after being displaced for over 20 years due to intercommunal clashes in the Mukutani area.

During a community engagement event, the KDF team distributed assorted supplies, including clean drinking water, and conducted a medical camp to support the returning families. Speaking at the event, Officer Commanding Mukutani Forward Operating Base (FOB), Captain Kizito Mbingi, assured residents of their safety as they begin rebuilding their lives.

“The Multi-Agency security team is here to ensure you settle safely and resume your normal life. We are committed to guaranteeing your safety,” said Capt. Mbingi.

Mr. Samson Lekumbe, an elder and chairperson representing the resettled families, expressed his gratitude to the multi-agency security teams for their dedication to restoring peace and security in the region.

“We are truly grateful for your efforts. Thanks to you, we can return home after so many years. It feels good to be home again. Thank you for the water and medical support,” he said.

In a separate operation, KDF troops based at Chesitet FOB responded to a call for help from the residents of Lomelo, distributing water directly to their kraal to ease the burden of long treks in search of water for both household and livestock needs.
