On 31 March 2026, the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Bernard Waliaula, officiated the closing ceremony of the Kenya Air Force Rifle Championship 2026.
The championship brought together teams from various Kenya Air Force bases and formations to train and evaluate their preparedness for the upcoming Kenya Defence Forces Championship.
The competition featured several matches, including Uhodari Cup, Vijana Challenge Cup, Falling Plates, Shifta Cup, Moving Target Challenge, and Officers Falling Plates.
Outstanding participants included Second Lieutenant Elias Pkyach (Best Young Officer) and Senior Private (Spte) Wilson Lentunyei (Best Young Soldier). Spte James Lengurde and Spte Hussein Sibo won Best Pair in the Light Machine Gun Negev category. Wajir Air Base led in Match 5 Falling Plates, while Laikipia Air Base won Match 10 and emerged overall winners.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Commander commended participants for their performance and underscored the importance of the exercise in enhancing operational readiness.
“This is not just a competition but sharpening of critical combat skill. You have shown confidence and consistency. The upcoming competition is an opportunity to showcase our potential. I’m confident you will fly the Kenya Air Force flag higher. Let’s remain focused, refine your skills and maintain good discipline,” Maj Gen Waliaula reiterated.
The event was attended by KAF Senior leadership, officers, and service members.
