Kenya’s Defence Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Soipan Tuya, and the Ambassador of France to Kenya, His Excellency Mr. Arnaud Suquet, today signed a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
The DCA establishes a structured framework for enhanced collaboration between the two nations in key areas, including intelligence sharing, maritime security, peacekeeping, training, and humanitarian assistance. This agreement marks a significant milestone in the strengthening of bilateral relations between Kenya and France, further cementing a long-standing partnership rooted in shared commitments to peace, stability, and security.
During the signing ceremony, CS Tuya commended the French government for its continued support to Kenya’s defence sector, particularly in areas such as training, equipment provision, and peace support operations. She emphasized that the implementation of the agreement would be guided by joint planning and regular reviews to ensure its relevance and mutual benefit.
In his remarks, Ambassador Suquet reiterated France’s commitment to collaborating closely with Kenya to advance shared goals, including regional stability, maritime safety, and sustainable peace.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chief of the Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, and Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces in charge of Operations, Plans, Doctrine and Training (OPD&T), Major General Fredrick Leuria. Ambassador Suquet was accompanied by a French delegation led by the Commander of the French Armed Forces in Djibouti, Major General Sébastien Vallette.
