The National Defence College (NDC) has intensified its strategic study visits with back-to-back engagements at the Kenya Army and Kenya Air Force, offering 88 senior officers from 16 countries a detailed look into Kenya’s defence posture and the country’s response to emerging security challenges.
At Headquarters Kenya Army, Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General David Ketter received the delegation and briefed them on the Army’s structure, missions and its role in national, regional and global stability.
Lt Gen Ketter said strategic-level training remains essential for credible defence decision-making and called for a stronger whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to modern threats. He urged the officers to uphold the values of their nations as they grow into positions of influence.
The Kenya Air Force (KAF) visit, hosted by Commander KAF Major General Bernard Waliaula, immersed the participants in KAF’s mandate, operational architecture and the application of airpower in contemporary security theatres.
Course participants engaged with senior commanders, toured core operational units, and observed how the Air Force sustains readiness while supporting national sovereignty and wider KDF missions.
NDC Commandant Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai thanked both services for their continued cooperation, noting that the study visits provide essential exposure for future defence leaders navigating rapid shifts in regional and global security dynamics.
