The Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, joined Headquarters Kenya Army personnel in a morale-building engagement, as the New Year begins, held at Ngao Gardens, Nairobi, on Wednesday, 07 January 2026. The event underscored teamwork, integrity and mission readiness as key pillars of the Kenya Army’s operational success.
The ceremony brought together Officers, Service Members and civilian staff drawn from various departments, reflecting the integrated approach that strengthens the Kenya Army’s capacity to effectively discharge its constitutional mandate. It provided an opportunity to reflect on the Army’s performance in 2025 while reinforcing unity of purpose among personnel in 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Ketter commended personnel for their collective contribution to the Kenya Army’s achievements over the past year, emphasising that success in operations, training and administration is a shared responsibility.
“The strength of the Kenya Army lies in our ability to work as one team. Uniformed personnel and civilians alike play a critical role in ensuring that our operations, logistics and administration run seamlessly,” said Lt Gen Ketter. The Commander highlighted integrity and discipline as fundamental values that must guide all actions within the Service, particularly as the Army continues to operate in complex and demanding environments.
He further underscored the importance of sustained mission readiness, noting that preparedness remains central to the Army’s ability to effectively respond to both internal and external security challenges.
“Mission readiness is a continuous process. Through training, effective teamwork and adherence to our values, we will remain ready to respond whenever the nation calls,” he added.
The Deputy Commander Kenya Army, Major General Mohamed Hassan, reiterated the importance of discipline and teamwork, urging Service personnel to support one another in order to successfully accomplish the objectives of the Kenya Army.
The Kenya Army Sergeant Major (ASM), Warrant Officer Class One (WO I) Joel Murage, expressed appreciation to personnel for their dedication and exemplary performance throughout 2025. He encouraged them to reflect on the challenges encountered during the year, apply lessons learnt and further strengthen professional bonds.
The event concluded with Lt Gen Ketter conveying his New Year wishes to the personnel and their families, expressing confidence that the year ahead would be characterised by unity, professionalism and continued operational excellence.
In attendance were Kenya Army Chiefs of Branches, Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members and civilian staff.
