KENYA NAVY MANDA BASE HOLDS ISLAMIC INHERITANCE SEMINAR

The Kenya Navy Manda Base Mosque under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel (Imam) Salim Juma Mwarora, successfully concluded a comprehensive five-day seminar on Islamic Inheritance (Mirath) at the Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Manda Bay. The program brought together Muslim service members from various units domiciled at the base for an in-depth study of Islamic principles governing inheritance, wealth distribution, and will writing.

The seminar aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of Islamic inheritance laws, equipping them with the knowledge required to prepare wills aligned with both Islamic teachings and established legal frameworks.

During the seminar, key areas covered included the foundational pillars and essential conditions of inheritance, the classification of heirs, categories of beneficiaries, and factors that may hinder or limit inheritance rights. Participants also had an opportunity to engage in practical exercises, case studies, and scenario-based discussions designed to help them apply theoretical principles to real-life situations.

By integrating theory with practical guidance, the program sought to empower personnel to make informed, compliant, and ethically sound decisions regarding estate planning and family affairs.

Officiating the closing ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Mwarora commended participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the seminar. He emphasized the importance of understanding inheritance laws not only for personal development but also for promoting harmony and justice within families and communities.

“Understanding inheritance is not merely a legal or financial matter. It is essential for fostering family harmony, resolving disputes amicably, and upholding justice within the household,” he stated.

He further expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would serve as a lasting resource, guiding participants in navigating family matters with wisdom while reinforcing Islamic values of justice, compassion, and social responsibility.

The seminar underscores the Kenya Defence Forces’ commitment to the spiritual and holistic development of its personnel. By offering guidance on Islamic inheritance, the program addresses key legal and religious obligations, contributing to ethical awareness and personal preparedness among service members.
