KENYA NAVY MUSLIMS DONATE IFTAR FOOD

On behalf of Defence Headquarters Principal Imam Colonel (Imam) Abdulmalik Rubeya, Kenya Navy Service Imam, Lieutenant Colonel (Imam) Salim Mwarora, on 27 February 2026, in a gesture of goodwill during the holy month of Ramadan donated assorted food items to the Muslim community at Mtongwe, Mombasa.

The initiative provided an opportunity for Kenya Navy personnel to engage with the local community, sharing with the less fortunate and promoting social harmony in the neighbourhood.

Speaking during the event, Lt Col (Imam) Mwarora emphasized that such acts reflect the values of compassion and service inherent in both the naval ethos and Islamic teachings.

“The holy month of Ramadan encourages Muslims to practice generosity and kindness. Today, we extend this spirit by supporting our community members who are in need,” he said.

The exercise is part of the Kenya Navy’s wider engagement programs aimed at fostering positive relations between service members and the communities they serve.

Through initiatives like this, the Kenya Navy continues to demonstrate its commitment not only to national defence but also to societal development and community cohesion.
