Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, took part in the third annual Africa Maritime Forces Summit held from 23 to 27 June 2025 in Pointe aux Piments, Mauritius.
The summit brought together senior leaders and senior enlisted leaders from African maritime forces, naval infantry units, broader military establishments, and international partners to address the continent’s most pressing maritime security challenges.
Serving as a strategic forum, the event enabled participating nations to share operational insights, enhance mutual understanding, and forge partnerships aimed at building effective, long-term responses to evolving maritime threats.
The summit’s agenda focused on enhancing maritime domain awareness and strengthening cooperation through regional and international frameworks such as the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC), the Regional Maritime Information Fusion Centre (RMIFC), and the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). A key objective was to support the development of a unified and effective maritime security system, particularly within the Western Indian Ocean region.
Beyond the principle sessions, Brigadier Kiswaa participated in, a series of bilateral engagements and specialized working groups designed to translate high-level policy dialogue into actionable, mission-ready initiatives.
Accompanying the Deputy Commander was Commanding Officer Special Operations Squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Kipkorir Keter and Kenya Navy Sergeant Major (NSM), Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Musa Adan.
