KENYA NAVY REAFFIRMS UNITY AND READINESS DURING AUGUST 2025 DIVISIONS

On 8 August 2025, Major General Paul Otieno, Commander Kenya Navy, presided over the Kenya Navy Divisions at the Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Mombasa County.

A Division is the smallest naval formation led by a Divisional Officer who is the major link between the Division and the chain of command. The Divisional Officer conveys the general welfare, requests and discipline of all service members in the Division to the chain of command. This system facilitates efficient communication, provides a framework for discipline and fosters a sense of esprit de corps.

During this biannual event, the Commander Kenya Navy conducts a formal parade inspection of the sailors and shares his command philosophy, focus areas and vision. The ceremony also serves to uphold the naval divisional system tradition, instil discipline and cohesion, communicate expectations for professional conduct and reaffirm the Kenya Navy’s mission and purpose.

In his remarks, Major General Otieno commended the dedication, professionalism and commitment of naval personnel during their deployments. He commended them for their consistent support in maintaining smooth operations and ensuring Kenya’s maritime security.

“I commend each of you for your commitment and professionalism in our ongoing operations. Your contributions are vital to national security and regional stability. I am confident that with unity, discipline and purpose, we will continue to excel as a formidable maritime force. Your dedication and service are the pillars of our success. Let us continue to serve with honor, diligence and unwavering commitment to our oath to defend the Constitution and our nation’s sovereignty.” he said.
