On 24 February 2026, the Kenyan 5th Quick Reaction Force (KENQRF 5), deployed under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the the Congo (MONUSCO), donated food supplies to vulnerable community members at Masjid Hidaya Mosque in Oicha, Beni Territory.
The initiative, led by Muslim personnel within the contingent, supported elderly residents and women widowed by ongoing conflict, providing relief to 30 households during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
KDF contingent leaders addressed the congregation, emphasizing the importance of unity in fostering stability. They noted that building strong bonds of mutual respect and harmony among community members is essential for achieving lasting peace and fulfilling the shared responsibility of protecting civilians in the region.
Religious leaders delivered a sermon highlighting the core values of the season, quoting Quran 76:8–9: “And they give food, despite their love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], ‘We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We seek neither reward nor thanks from you.’” They underscored the importance of compassion, empathy, generosity, and selfless charity during Ramadan.
Mosque Imam Mr Fauza Bulema expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, commending MONUSCO’s multifaceted support. He observed that beyond providing security in conflict-affected areas, the mission consistently responds to urgent humanitarian needs to safeguard community welfare.
The outreach reaffirmed MONUSCO’s commitment not only to stabilizing the region through security operations, but also to promoting community wellbeing and interfaith harmony during this sacred period.
