The Chairman of the KDF Military Veterans Advisory Committee, Major General (Rtd) Lucas Tumbo, together with Brigadier M. Leriari, Director General of the Directorate of Military Veterans, spearheaded a KDF military veterans outreach program in Machakos County. The initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare of retired officers and service members, underscoring the nation’s commitment to honor their sacrifices while providing comprehensive support across various aspects of life.
The main highlight of the event was the official launch of the KDF Machakos Veterans Chapter, graced by the Governor of Machakos County, Hon. Wavinya Ndeti. The ceremony brought together retired and serving military personnel from the region, providing a platform to strengthen bonds, network, and access services and benefits.
In his remarks, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Tumbo emphasized the importance of welfare, networking, registration, and access to benefits and services.
“I’d like to extend my sincerest appreciation to each and every one of you for your participation, commitment, and constant support. Your presence here today has been invaluable. We have achieved this milestone through our collective efforts, cooperation, and unshakeable commitment to one another. Let’s continue to support each other and work towards a brighter future,” he said.
The launch marked a significant milestone in KDF’s efforts to support its veterans by establishing a strong presence in Machakos. The Chapter will work closely with the Directorate of Military Veterans to ensure that retired service members and their families receive the recognition and care they deserve.
Concluding the ceremony, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Tumbo officially recognized the launch of the Machakos Veterans Chapter, expressing optimism for a brighter future.
