The Ministry of Defence (MoD) emerged the overall winner in the Public Sector category and the top performer among all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards.
The Ministry was recognised for exemplary accountability and prudent management of public resources.
This year’s FiRe Awards, themed “Fostering Compliance to International Standards to Enhance Transparency, Comparability and Accountability,” aim to promote integrated reporting by enhancing accountability, transparency and integrity. The awards encourage compliance with appropriate financial reporting frameworks, as well as enhanced governance, social and environmental disclosures among public, private and other entities operating in East Africa.
Addressing attendees, the Chief Guest, Director General for Public Investments and Portfolio Management at the National Treasury, CPA Lawrence Kibet, underscored the importance of effective asset management—not only for the present but also for future generations.
The MoD delegation was led by Secretary Administration, Mr. Isaac Masinde, who represented the Principal Secretary, alongside other senior Ministry officials.
The FiRe Awards are promoted by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board Kenya (PSASB), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), and the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA).
