NDC AND GROUNDWATER CENTRE ALIGN EFFORTS 

On 7th May 2025, the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources, Dr. Steve Maore, led a delegation on an official visit to the National Defence College (NDC). The team was received by the Commandant, Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai. NDC is a College of National Defence University-Kenya.

The visit, marked by a courtesy call, aimed to foster strategic collaboration between the two institutions in addressing climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Discussions emphasized the critical role of groundwater and water resource management in ensuring both human and environmental security.

In his remarks, Lt Gen Mwinyikai highlighted the strategic importance of water as a resource with direct implications for national and human security. He stressed the urgency of adopting innovative and sustainable water management practices to enhance resilience across civilian and security sectors.

Dr. Maore commended the NDC for its vital role in developing strategic leadership and policy advisory capabilities across the region. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to building partnerships that close knowledge gaps and promote integrated approaches to environmental governance and security.

The visit marked a significant step toward institutional synergy and knowledge exchange in pursuit of sustainable development and regional stability.
