On 2 December 2025, Major General Paul Otieno, Commander Kenya Navy, hosted staff and participants from the National Defence College (NDC) at Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe in Mombasa for an educational visit.

The purpose of the visit was to give the participants insight into the Navy’s roles, structure and operational responsibilities and its contribution to both national and regional security.

Led by Major General Timothy Lekolool, Senior Directing Staff at the NDC, the delegation was briefed on the Navy’s organization, mandate, operational capabilities and the strategic partnerships that support maritime operations within the Western Indian Ocean.

They toured the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) located at the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC), where they learned how the facility enhances training for Kenya Navy personnel and multi-agency partners.

The tour concluded at Kenya Shipyards Limited with a briefing on the shipyard’s roles in shipbuilding, repair, refit and maintenance of both local and regional maritime vessels.

Present during the visit was Brigadier William Kiprotich, Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, together with Principal Staff Officers and Senior Officers.
