NEW FORCE INTERVENTION BRIGADE COMMANDER LAUDS KENYAN TROOPS FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE IN PURSUIT OF PEACE IN DRC

The new Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) Commander, Brigadier General Alexander Masangura, has lauded Kenyan troops serving under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) for their professionalism, dedication, and discipline.

As part of his ongoing familiarization tour, Brig Gen Masangula paid a visit to the Kenya Quick Reaction Force (KEN QRF) at their Camp Lieutenant Masulia in Mavivi, North Kivu Province, where he expressed gratitude for the contingent’s outstanding service and contribution to peace and stability in eastern DRC.

“I’m deeply impressed by KENQRF. Your efforts have significantly contributed to peace and stability in this region, and your presence has restored confidence among local communities.”

He further urged the troops to remain steadfast in their mandate of protecting civilians, reminding them that this was at the heart of MONUSCO’s mission.

“Never forget that protecting civilians is central to what we do here,” he emphasized. “Continue to serve with courage and professionalism, because your actions represent not only Kenya, but also the United Nations as a whole.”

The Commander also highlighted the importance of maintaining high operational readiness, teamwork, and cooperation with other MONUSCO units and local stakeholders.

On his part, Kenya Contingent Commander Lieutenant Colonel Simon Seda welcomed the visit by the new FIB Commander and reaffirmed the Kenyan contingent’s commitment to delivering on their mandate.

“We are honored by your visit and the confidence you have shown in us,” said Lt Col Seda. “I assure you that KENQRF remains mission-ready, resilient, and motivated to continue protecting civilians and supporting MONUSCO operations.”

Lt Col Seda further emphasized the strong sense of discipline, teamwork, and patriotism that defines the Kenyan troops on mission.

“Our men and women in uniform are guided by discipline and teamwork, and above all, by love for country and service to humanity,” he added.

The visit comes in the wake of expanded operational tentacles to cover not only North Kivu but also part of Ituri province which had in the recent past experienced attacks by illegal armed groups on civilians, a situation that has now been brought under control.
