OMU FEMALE ENGAGEMENT TEAM REACHES OUT

A team from the Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) Female Engagement Team, in collaboration with Sauti ya Dada Community-Based Organization, today visited Cana Girls Rescue Home in Tiaty Constituency in an outreach mission focused on mental wellness, empowerment, and dignity.

KDF Officers, represented the Commander Operation Maliza Uhalifu, Brigadier Kiraguri. In his remarks, Major Kakai of KDF underscored the moral imperative of child protection and safeguarding, affirming OMU’s unwavering commitment to creating safe spaces where children can thrive—free from violence, fear, and abuse.

The mission provided much-needed mental health and psychosocial support to the girls at the rescue home, most of whom are survivors of forced child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), sexual violence, and physical abuse. The personnel held one-on-one counselling sessions, shared meals and refreshments, and engaged in team-building activities that brought smiles and laughter to every corner of the home.

In a show of solidarity and support, the personnel donated essential food supplies and sanitary pads to promote dignity and proper menstrual hygiene management among the girls.
