OPERATION MALIZA UHALIFU TROOPS JOIN TREE PLANTING DRIVE IN BARINGO

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel based at Mukutani under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) participated in a tree planting exercise at the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Training Camp Karau in Mukutani Sub-County, Baringo County..

The event was graced by the Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, alongside stakeholders from Spread Truth Africa and Global Africa, as well as local leaders including Area MCA Hon. Paul Lolgisoi and Nominated MCA Hon. Caroline Lesaaya.

Also present was a multi-agency security team comprising the Assistant County Commissioner Mr. George Mageto, Officer Commanding Mukutani KDF Camp Capt. Mbingi, OCS Mukutani Inspector Killian Masila, and OC RDU Inspector Kelvin Lalang.

The exercise, which embraced the participation of the local community, saw a total of 6,000 trees planted. The main species included Tamarindus indica and Croton.

Speaking during the event, the Chief Conservator of Forests commended the multi-agency security team for not only fostering peace in the region but also championing environmental conservation through extensive tree planting initiatives.

This initiative reflects KDF’s continued commitment to supporting environmental sustainability while strengthening community relations under OMU.
