Preparations for the 62nd Madaraka Day celebrations are in their final stages, with several activities underway at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County. These include rehearsals for the security forces parade. As part of the lead-up to the event, the Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion Kenya Rifles (7KR), Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Musao—who is the military Parade Commander—paid a courtesy call on Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga on Wednesday, 21 May 2025. He was accompanied by officers and multi-agency officials.
During the visit, the team briefed Governor Wanga on various aspects of the upcoming Madaraka Day event.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel are on the ground making preparations for the parades and are working closely with other national security agencies to ensure the event’s security and safety.
This year’s Madaraka Day celebrations will be held under the theme “Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.” Madaraka Day is celebrated annually to commemorate Kenya’s attainment of self-rule.
