The Chief Recruitment Officer, (CRO) Brigadier Samuel Kimani received the shortlisted General Service Officers (GSO) graduate candidates at Lanet as part of the ongoing nationwide Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment drive.
The candidates underwent a series of activities including document verification, medical check-up, competency interviews and general assessment tasks aimed at highlighting candidates’ problem solving capabilities, leadership qualities, critical thinking and professional skills.
In his address, the CRO noted that the process of selection is key as it serves as the first phase in the moulding of capable future military leaders. Additionally, he sensitized those present on the observation of the KDF values, warning that the exercise will be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner so as to ensure equal opportunity to all shortlisted candidates.
“You are all here today because first, you demonstrated your academic excellence, and now it is up to the KDF policies and standard operating procedures to be applied so as to ascertain those who qualify to be Officer Cadets. This is a line of work that demands a tremendous responsibility, discipline, resilience, high moral integrity and an unshakable mental resilience so as to make a successful career out of it,” he said.
Speaking during the event Chief Coordinator, Brigadier Alphonce Ndar, called upon transparency and integrity for both uniformed personnel and the shortlisted candidates and urged those present for the purpose of this exercise to maintain a high level of integrity and observe the rules and regulations placed.
“It is my duty to also communicate that the KDF does not and will not tolerate any case of recruitment malpractice and such incidents will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
Further, he called upon anyone who will observe or experience any recruitment malpractice during the duration of the exercise to report immediately so as to root out any culprits.
