The Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Paul Otieno, on 30 April 2025, presided over the Kenya Navy Divisions at the Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe.
The Commander’s Division, held biannually across naval formations, is a key ceremonial event during which the Kenya Navy’s annual calendar of activities is officially issued through a performance contract. Beyond disseminating operational directives, the Division serves as a moment of reflection and unity for naval personnel, reaffirming their commitment to maritime safety and operational excellence.
In his address, Major General Otieno commended the Kenya Navy personnel for their steadfast dedication, sacrifice, and resilience, which he described as the foundation of the Service’s success.
“Your dedication and professionalism have brought immense pride to ourselves, and I am confident that we will continue to achieve greatness together,” said Major General Otieno.
Emphasizing the central role of discipline in military effectiveness, the Commander urged all soldiers to uphold high standards of personal conduct and embody the core values of the Kenya Defence Forces.
“It is imperative that each one of you adheres to the principles of discipline, particularly in matters of personal conduct. I’d urge you all to uphold the KDF core values and maintain high standards of discipline,” added Major General Otieno.
Additionally, the Commander also urged service members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, emphasizing that it is essential to the integrity, effectiveness, and reputation of the Kenya Navy.
“It is essential that we maintain the highest standards of professionalism to ensure our continued success and credibility. Your performance, dedication and contribution will be recognized and rewarded accordingly. Let us strive to excel in our respective roles, setting a benchmark of excellence for others to follow,” added Major General Otieno.
The ceremony was attended by Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Mohamed Shemote, Chief of Naval Medical Services, Brigadier (Dr) Justino Muinde, senior officers, officers, and service members.
