
Dr. Peterlinus Ouma Odote is a distinguished academic, researcher, and civilian military instructor with expertise in International Relations, Diplomacy, Conflict, Security, and Peace Studies. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), where he is also the Head of Programmes at the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) and Editor-in-Chief of National Security: Journal of National Defence University-Kenya.
In 2025, Dr. Odote was selected to the Study of the U.S. Branch at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in the United States, where he engaged with global peers and deepened his perspectives on U.S. foreign policy, democratic governance, and international engagement.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Odote has made significant contributions to higher education and peacebuilding. He has taught at Hekima University College, the University of Nairobi, and Tangaza University College. His professional experience also includes serving as Director of the Horn of Africa Region at the Shalom Centre for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation (SCCRR), where he played a critical role in advancing peace and reconciliation initiatives.
A prolific scholar, Dr. Odote has published extensively in refereed journals, enriching academic discourse on diplomacy, security, and international affairs. His academic credentials include a PhD in Diplomacy and International Studies, a Master’s degree in Peace Studies and International Relations, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Education, reflecting his lifelong commitment to intellectual growth and professional excellence.
