Personnel from the Military Police Corps, on 14 May 2025, conducted a tree planting exercise at the Directorate of Veterinary Services, Upper Kabete, in support of the Commander-in-Chief’s directive under the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign.
The exercise led to the successful planting of 2,500 indigenous tree seedlings, marking a significant contribution to the national reforestation effort aimed at combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
The team was joined by staff from the host institution, reflecting the inter-agency collaboration and a shared vision for ecological restoration. This initiative was undertaken under the umbrella of the KDF Environmental Soldier Program, which seeks to empower Service Personnel to champion environmental conservation and climate action.
During the exercise, Captain Selel, the team leader, highlighted the vital role of the military in environmental protection and applauded the participants’ dedication. He emphasized that achieving the nation’s tree planting target of 15 billion trees by 2030 requires a unified, committed effort from all sectors of society.
The event reaffirmed the Military Police Corps’ unwavering commitment to supporting Kenya’s environmental goals and safeguarding the natural heritage for future generations.
