ISLAMIC MILITARY COUNTER TERRORISM COALITION TRAINING CONCLUDES IN NAIROBI

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) concluded its capacity-building training on Reduction of Terrorism Financing Operations with a closing ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel, Nairobi.

General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) Major General Luka Kutto presided over the event, praising the officers’ professionalism, dedication, and collaborative spirit. He highlighted the importance of multilateral initiatives in enhancing joint capabilities and regional stability.

IMCTC Operations Manager Hatim AlKhatib thanked Kenya, the host nation for its hospitality and emphasised the value of joint training in building sustainable capacity among member states. He noted that the program strengthened individual skills and fostered inter-country networks critical for countering transnational terrorism.

The program united military and security personnel from 13 key government organisations, focusing on operational readiness, coordination and responses to modern terrorist threats.

The training included counter-extremism, intelligence sharing, military operations, and strategic communications, delivered through interactive workshops, scenario-based exercises, and discussions addressing real-world challenges.

The initiative reinforced IMCTC’s role as a leading platform for unified counterterrorism efforts, emphasising ideology, communications, counter-financing, and military coordination. The ceremony concluded with participants receiving certificates.
