On 10 September 2025, the Director, Directorate of Oversight, Compliance and Accountability (DOCA) at Defence Headquarters, Major General Mohamed Isak Iddi, led a sensitization seminar at the Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe in Mombasa County.
The seminar was part of DOCA’s ongoing efforts to promote awareness, transparency and institutional accountability within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). As the principal custodian of oversight and ethical compliance, the Director emphasized the critical role of DOCA in ensuring that military operations adhere to established legal, policy and ethical frameworks.
Key topics discussed during the seminar included core responsibilities of the Directorate, oversight of military operations, compliance, accountability and transparency frameworks, internal audits and investigative procedures, civil–military relations and external liaison.
Major General Iddi reaffirmed the Directorate’s mandate as the watchdog of the KDF, emphasizing its role in safeguarding professionalism and ensuring strict adherence to national and international legal standards.
The seminar underscored DOCA’s commitment to reinforcing a culture of integrity and accountability across all ranks of the KDF, in alignment with national security objectives.
In attendance was Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Brigadier William Kiprotich, Chief of Inspectorate, Brigadier Lawrence Ntoyai, Formation Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and service members.
