LAND FORCES COMMANDERS SYMPOSIUM 2025

LAND FORCES COMMANDERS SYMPOSIUM 2025

The Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, attended the Second Land Forces Commanders Symposium 2025 held in Kigali, Rwanda. The event marked a significant milestone in fostering strategic partnerships and advancing operational excellence among African land forces.

Hosted by the Rwanda Defence Force, the two-day high-level international forum brought together military leaders, defence experts, and key stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to address pressing security challenges under the theme, “Leveraging Land Forces Capabilities for Enhanced Implementation of Peace and Security Initiatives.”

Lieutenant General Ketter took part in strategic discussions aimed at enhancing interoperability and promoting collaboration among African militaries and international partners. The symposium provided a vital platform for land forces commanders to exchange insights, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to both emerging and ongoing security threats across the continent.

The event underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation as a complement to multilateral efforts. Participants emphasized the need for active collaboration to ensure rapid, effective, and timely responses to crises—including conflict resolution, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response.

Through strengthened bilateral agreements, African defence forces can enhance their collective capacity to address complex challenges such as terrorism, cross-border insurgencies, and climate-related instability, while improving resilience and interoperability across the region.
