The annual event, held every October, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer – the most common cancer affecting women globally. The 2025 theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” draws attention to equal access to quality comprehensive treatment, minimization of stigma and foster multisectoral partnerships by engaging stakeholders to create and amplify impact.
The session covered; early signs, self-examination, prevention, myths and screening, of breast cancer. Participants also received practical demonstrations on how to perform regular self-examinations, emphasizing that early detection immensely improves treatment outcomes and survival rates.
Personnel from the Sierra Leone Police Unit and students from the Dhobley Women Association Mentorship programme were also in attendance of the event, fostering greater cohesion and collaboration among troop-contributing countries and the local community.
KDF reaffirms its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its personnel, noting that a healthy force is key to mission success.
