Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and deployed at Afmadhow Main Operating Base conducted a successful medical outreach on 29 October 2025 at Afmadhow General Hospital.
The exercise provided essential medical care to local residents, reinforcing humanitarian support and strengthening ties between the military and the Afmadhow community. The outreach focused on vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the elderly, who have limited access to healthcare services.
During the outreach, more than 100 residents received treatment for various ailments, while the medical team also offered vital health education sessions on nutrition, maternal care, disease prevention, and hygiene practices, with special attention to expectant and nursing mothers.
Mr. Ahmed Mahamud, Director of Afmadhow General Hospital, expressed deep appreciation to KDF, noting that the initiative has enhanced public confidence in the military and contributed to peace, security, and regional stability.
The outreach was a notable success, improving the health and well-being of local residents. It reflected KDF’s ongoing commitment to peace support operations through not only security efforts but also humanitarian and social development initiatives, fostering lasting stability in Afmadhow and greater Somalia.
