KENYAN MUSLIM SOLDIERS IN DRC EXTEND BROTHERHOOD TO MOSQUE IN BENI

On 13th November 2025, Kenyan Quick Reaction Force 4 (KENQRF 4) faithful serving under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) made a generous donation to Masjid Riyaadha in Beni Town as part of their ongoing community outreach and faith-based support initiatives.

The donation included carpets for the prayer hall, solar lights to enhance energy efficiency, assorted foodstuffs for the local Muslim community, and a cash contribution aimed at reviving a stalled mosque construction project.

Additionally, the Kenyan troops gave out copies of the Holy Quran to members of the local mosque.

During the handover ceremony, the Contingent Commander, Lt Col Simon Seda, who was the chief guest, underscored the significance of upholding the core values of the Muslim faith and the importance of living by the Five Pillars of Islam. He emphasized that the act of giving—one of the key pillars—reflects true faith and strengthens the bond between the institution and the community it serves.

“Our support today is proof of the spirit of unity, generosity, and compassion that Islam teaches. We acknowledge the power of Allah in our joint pursuit of peace, and that is why we are here to worship Him together,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the Muslim Chaplain, (Maalim) Ssgt Said Mohammad, highlighted the essence of brotherhood and unity among Muslims and humanity as a whole. He called upon the faithful to continue nurturing future generations with strong Islamic values and moral discipline, ensuring that the community remains anchored in faith, respect, and service to others.

“Brotherhood and compassion are at the heart of Islam, and by guiding our youth in these principles, we safeguard our faith and build a stronger, more virtuous society,” he said.

The mosque leadership and local community members expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful contribution, noting that the support would not only facilitate the completion of the mosque but also uplift the welfare of congregants and nearby residents.
