On Wednesday 26 November 2025, the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the Joint Command and Staff College, JCSC, Brigadier David Chesire delivered a Lecture of Opportunity on Leadership, Command and Management to participants of the Junior Joint Command and Staff Course, JJCSC 102/25 at Lang’ata Barracks.
During the lecture, Brigadier Chesire emphasized the critical interplay of character, knowledge and their practical application as the foundational elements for effective command and leadership at the tactical level. He underscored that these attributes remain indispensable for Officers operating in the current dynamic and demanding operational environments.
The session further enhanced the participants’ understanding and preparedness to assume future roles, responsibilities, and military appointments with greater competence and confidence.
The Junior Joint Command and Staff Course is a critical foundational career course designed to equip Junior Officers with essential knowledge, skills and understanding of command and staff work to prepare them for the assumption of responsibilities at Unit and Formation levels.
The JJCSC 102/25 comprises Officers drawn from the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force and Kenya Navy.
