KDF ENHANCES SECURITY AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT IN RUQA, GARISSA COUNTY

KDF troops recently conducted a security and community outreach patrol in Ruqa village in Garissa County. The patrol was undertaken in line with the constitutional mandate of the Kenya Defence Forces to defend and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya, while supporting internal security operations in collaboration with other government agencies.

The patrol formed part of continued efforts to deter security threats, reassure the local population, and create a secure environment conducive to socio-economic activities within the area. During the engagement, the team interacted with members of the community, providing an opportunity for dialogue, reassurance, and assessment of prevailing community concerns.

Residents expressed satisfaction with the sustained presence of security personnel, noting that enhanced security has enabled them to conduct their daily pastoral and economic activities with minimal disruption. Such feedback underscores the importance of sustained civil-military cooperation in strengthening public confidence and resilience.

In keeping with the KDF’s commitment to supporting civil authorities and fostering positive relations with host communities, the patrol team established a temporary medical aid point to offer basic medical assistance to residents in need. Many community members received treatment for normal ailments and conditions.

Community members expressed appreciation for the support and acknowledged the positive role of continued KDF engagement in promoting peace, security, and stability within Ruqa and the wider region of Garissa County. The interaction reinforced the importance of partnership between security forces and local communities in safeguarding lasting peace.
