On Thursday 12 March 2026, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) hosted a delegation from the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) for a benchmarking training visit. The five member delegation was led by Colonel Joseph Likalangu, Staff Officer Human Resource and Management at TPDF Headquarters.
The visit commenced with a courtesy call on the Commandant JCSC, Major General Eric Kinuthia. Following the call, the delegation received a detailed briefing on the College’s mandate, training programmes and academic framework. Subsequent interactive discussions, chaired by Brigadier David Chesire, (Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor) provided an engaging platform for the TPDF delegation to interact with JCSC faculty members. The sessions focused on clarifying key aspects aligned with the delegation’s benchmarking objectives, including academic structure, curriculum development, instructional processes, training delivery, course design and academic administration. The visit underscored the shared commitment to enhancing professional military education and fostering regional collaboration in defence training.
The delegation concluded by undertaking a guided tour of key JCSC facilities integral to supporting research, learning and the academic development of course participants.
The training visit highlights the strong defence ties between Kenya and Tanzania and the mutual interest in advancing best practices in military education and professional development.
