MONUSCO EVALUATORS PRAISE KENYAN PEACEKEEPERS’ OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

The 5th Kenya Quick Reaction Force (KENQRF 5) has demonstrated a high level of combat readiness after successfully passing a rigorous five-day Operational Effectiveness Inspection (OEI) conducted by the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

The inspection, which commenced on Monday, 09 March 2026, assessed the contingent’s ability to execute the Force Commander’s directives and operational orders. Evaluators placed significant emphasis on the unit’s capacity to carry out MONUSCO’s core mandate of protecting civilians amid ongoing instability in the region.

Throughout the exercise, KENQRF 5 personnel demonstrated swift and precise battle drills, earning commendation from the evaluation team. The Chief Evaluator, Lieutenant Colonel Luis Eduardo Queirolo, praised the troops for their rapid response capability.

“Your attention to detail, accuracy, and swift execution during critical drills and procedures directly support the mission’s primary objective of safeguarding civilians,” he noted.

Responding to the inspection results, the Contingent Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Celestine Papa, reaffirmed the troops’ unwavering dedication to the mission.

“Our troops have internalised the gravity of our mandate, and this validation strengthens our resolve to operate at the highest standard,” he said, adding that the contingent remains a reliable force in protecting civilians threatened by armed groups.

KENQRF 5’s strong performance further reinforces the Kenyan contingent’s reputation as a vital component of United Nations stabilisation efforts in the region, reflecting its sustained state of readiness and professionalism.
