SJCSC 41-2025/26 UNDERTAKES INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL VISITS

The Senior Joint Command and Staff Course (SJCSC) 41–2025/2026 completed a series of international educational visits to selected countries in Africa, Asia and Europe as part of its professional military education programme. Conducted between 14 – 22 March 2026, the visits took participants to Ethiopia, Mauritius, the Republic of South Africa, India and the United Kingdom. The visits form an integral component of the course curriculum in Defence and Strategic Studies, designed to expose participants to practical perspectives that complement their academic learning.

The educational visits were conducted under the theme: “ Opportunities for Regional Security Through National Industrial Development and Technological Innovation .” Through the theme, course participants examined how industrial capacity and technological advancement contribute to defence preparedness, regional stability and broader national security objectives.

During the visits, the delegation engaged with a range of strategic institutions including sister Command and Staff Colleges, Ministries of Defence, Defence Headquarters, selected ministries, state departments and institutions involved in industrial and technological development linked to defence and national security. The interactions provided participants with valuable insights into defence management, strategic policy formulation, civil military cooperation and the role of industrial innovation in strengthening national and regional security frameworks. The engagements also offered opportunities for professional exchange and strengthened partnerships between defence institutions across the visited countries.

The delegations were led by Commandant Joint Command and Staff College, Major General Eric Kinuthia, Brigadier David Chesire (Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor) and College Heads of Departments. The international visits reinforced the course objective of developing strategic-level leaders equipped with the knowledge and practical understanding required to address contemporary security challenges within regional and global contexts.
