Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers deployed in Dhobley, Somalia, under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), recently conducted a community outreach activity in Tuulo Xubi village aimed at addressing urgent humanitarian needs in the community as well as strengthening relations.
The outreach focused on provision of essential medical services and distribution of food supplies to vulnerable residents to mitigate the adverse effects of droughts across the region.
During the exercise, AUSSOM-KDF medical personnel established a temporary medical camp where they offered free consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for a range of common illnesses. Special attention was given to children, the elderly, women and expectant mothers, who often face limited access to healthcare services.
In their remarks during the exercise, KDF commanders present noted the commitment of AUSSOM-KDF to not only support security efforts but also improve the welfare of local communities through such humanitarian initiatives. They reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between the military and civilians in fostering lasting peace and stability.
The village administrator, Hubi Mahmoud Khalif, expressed sincere gratitude for the medical outreach and food distribution, noting that the support had brought much-needed relief to the residents, and pledged continued collaboration with AUSSOM forces to strengthen community resilience and promote peace in the area.
“On behalf of the community, I affirm our strong support for AUSSOM and the mission. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and maintaining open collaboration for the benefit of Tulo Xubi village and our region,” she said.
The Civil- Military Cooperative activity is part of AUSSOM-KDF’s broader initiatives supporting the stabilization phase of the AUSSOM mission. These efforts focus on humanitarian assistance and social development, helping to promote lasting peace and stability across Somalia.
