Education is one of the most enduring investments a nation can make. Beyond imparting knowledge, it nurtures disciplined citizens, develops future leaders and equips young people with the skills required to contribute meaningfully to national progress. Recognizing this, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) continues to strengthen learning institutions through modern infrastructure and long-term educational planning that supports academic excellence.
That vision was demonstrated on 9 July 2026 when the Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General Bernard Waliaula, represented the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, during the commissioning of a newly constructed eight-classroom block at Moi Forces Academy (MFA) Senior School. During the ceremony, Major General Waliaula also launched the Moi Forces Academy Strategic Plan 2026–2031 on behalf of the CDF, providing the institution with a clear roadmap for its growth over the next five years.
The newly completed classroom block has been designed to ease congestion and enhance the effective implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum by providing learners with a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. Following an inspection of the facility, Major General Waliaula commended the high standard of construction and the timely completion of the project.
Launching the Strategic Plan, Major General Waliaula underscored the central role of education in national development and reaffirmed the KDF’s continued support for military-sponsored learning institutions.
“These classrooms reflect our belief that every learner deserves a safe and conducive environment in which to acquire knowledge, develop character, and prepare for future responsibilities. Supporting education is part of serving the nation because a secure Kenya depends not only on strong defence forces but also on educated, disciplined, and responsible citizens,” he said.
The newly unveiled Strategic Plan outlines the Academy’s priorities for the period 2026–2031, focusing on academic excellence, institutional growth, infrastructure development, innovation and effective governance to ensure the school continues producing well-rounded graduates equipped to meet future challenges.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Principal, Mr. James Maina, expressed appreciation to the Kenya Defence Forces leadership for its unwavering support, noting that the investment in learning facilities and strategic planning would significantly enhance the school’s capacity to deliver quality education.
The commissioning of the new classroom block and the launch of the Strategic Plan highlight the Kenya Defence Forces’ broader contribution to national development through education. By expanding modern learning facilities and providing strategic direction for institutional growth, the KDF continues to strengthen military-sponsored schools while helping shape a generation of knowledgeable, disciplined and responsible citizens prepared to serve the nation in diverse capacities.
