It is through such collaboration that initiatives aimed at empowering women, supporting education and improving livelihoods continue to strengthen peace and stability across Somalia.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Female Engagement Team (FET) serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) Sector II held a consultative meeting with the Jubaland Minister of Education, Mr. Ahmed Naji Haji and the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms. Fadumo Ali Abdi Karin, to explore collaborative community outreach programmes targeting women, girls and vulnerable groups within Jubaland.
The discussions focused on initiatives designed to improve access to education, promote youth development and enhance the welfare of local communities.
The initiative is also expected to encourage greater participation of girls in sports while providing them with a conducive environment for talent development and enhance opportunities for young women pursuing technical and vocational education.
The engagement underscores the commitment of the Kenya Defence Forces under AUSSOM Sector II to fostering meaningful partnerships that empower communities, strengthen trust with the local population and contribute to the African Union mission’s broader objective of supporting lasting peace, stability and sustainable development in Somalia.
