Moi Air Base (MAB) continues to strengthen its engagement with learning institutions by providing students with practical exposure to aviation, engineering and military professionalism as part of efforts to inspire and nurture the next generation of aviation professionals.
On Friday, 4 September 2026, students from the Aviation Club of Moi Kabarak Boys and Girls Senior School visited Moi Air Base for an educational exposure tour aimed at enhancing their understanding of aviation and the diverse roles undertaken by the Kenya Air Force.
The students were received by the Commanding Officer, Helicopter Engineering Wing, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Macharia, who welcomed them to the Base and underscored the importance of exposing learners to practical experiences that complement classroom-based learning.
During the visit, the students toured various aircraft hangars, where they were introduced to the technical environment supporting aircraft maintenance and operational readiness. The engagement provided them with an opportunity to appreciate the high level of professionalism, technical expertise and teamwork required to keep Kenya Air Force platforms mission-ready.
The Aviation Club members also visited a static display featuring Kenya Air Force (KAF) fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. They were taken through the different aircraft types, their roles and capabilities, as well as the various tasks they undertake in support of Kenya’s defence and security mandate.
The interaction further exposed the students to a wide range of career opportunities within the aviation and aerospace environment, particularly in areas such as aircraft engineering, avionics, aviation operations and other technical disciplines.
The educational visit forms part of KAF’s broader efforts to engage with schools and mentorship programmes, providing young people with opportunities to interact with professionals, gain practical knowledge and develop an appreciation for the importance of technical skills and discipline in aviation.
