CENTCOM COMMANDER REINFORCES OPERATIONAL READINESS AND TROOP WELFARE IN BONI ENCLAVE

The General Officer Commanding Central Command (CENTCOM), Major General William Kamoiro, visited Operation Amani Boni (OAB) to assess operational readiness, review the prevailing security situation and reinforce personnel welfare as a critical pillar of mission effectiveness in the Boni Enclave.

Received by the OAB Commander, Brigadier Meshack Kishoyan, Maj Gen Kamoiro toured OAB Headquarters and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) at Bodhei and Baure, where he received briefings on ongoing operations, emerging security threats and measures to protect vulnerable communities.

He emphasised the need for sustained vigilance, discipline and intelligence-led operations to counter security threats, safeguard communities and consolidate peace and stability in the region.

Maj Gen Kamoiro underscored the strategic importance of securing critical national infrastructure, particularly the Lamu Port–South Sudan–Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor and the proposed Dangote East Africa petroleum refinery in Lamu. He noted that a secure operational environment is essential to protecting workers, safeguarding local communities and facilitating the implementation of these transformative national development projects.

Addressing personnel welfare, the Commander urged troops to embrace financial discipline, prudent investment and responsible use of the KDF mortgage scheme. He cautioned against gambling, predatory lending and drug abuse, warning that such practices undermine personal wellbeing, military discipline and operational effectiveness.

He further stressed the importance of physical fitness, sound health and responsible utilisation of available logistics and equipment to sustain mission readiness and operational efficiency.

Maj Gen Kamoiro also conveyed the Chief of the Defence Forces’ message prioritising the welfare of personnel deployed in operational areas during KDF Day celebrations, acknowledging their sacrifices, resilience and unwavering commitment to national security.

The visit reaffirmed the Kenya Defence Forces’ resolve to sustain operational pressure against security threats while strengthening personnel welfare, discipline and mission readiness. Maj Gen Kamoiro urged troops to remain vigilant, professional and steadfast in their mandate to restore lasting peace, protect communities and secure Kenya’s strategic interests in the Boni Enclave.
