Senior Joint Command and Staff Course 42–2026/2027 undertook a challenging yet exhilarating hike at Ngong Hills on Saturday 15 August 2026, bringing together student officers and staff of the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) in an experience that tested endurance, teamwork and resilience.
The scenic trail provided more than a physical challenge; it strengthened camaraderie, mental toughness and the resilience essential for effective military leadership. Despite the demanding terrain, participants displayed determination and team spirit throughout the excursion.
Addressing the participants on behalf of the Commandant, the Senior Instructor Colonel Trevor Ogutu congratulated all student officers and members of staff for successfully completing the challenging yet interesting hike. Emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, he reminded participants that “a fit body nurtures a healthy mind,” underscoring the close relationship between physical fitness, mental alertness and effective leadership.
The Ngong Hills hike reinforced JCSC’s commitment to developing physically fit, mentally resilient and cohesive leaders prepared to meet the demands of contemporary military operations.
