The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on August 14, 2025, celebrated the achievements of its Netball Team at Defence Headquarters. Col. Gideon Bebora, Commandant DHQ Camp Administrative Unit, received the trophies on behalf of KDF leadership.
The Ulinzi Swords Netball Team won the Kenya Netball Federation Tournament held in Mombasa from July 25–27, 2025. Team Manager WOI Hellen Juma credited the victory to discipline, determination, and teamwork, announcing that eight KDF players will represent Kenya in the Commonwealth qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
Col. Bebora commended the athletes for their dedication, noting that sports enhance combat readiness and promote Kenya’s standing in international military events.
Later at Ulinzi Heroes’ Square, Col. Bebora, who is also Chairman of the Defence Forces Amateur Boxing Association (DEFABA), alongside Vice Chairman Col. Paul Bundi Mungo’ri, presented a DEFABA leading boxer, Hezron Maganga Sabat, with a fully equipped barber shop to support his post-sport livelihood.
The event reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to sporting excellence and holistic sportsperson development.
