AUSSOM-KDF TROOPS CONDUCTS MEDICAP AT BARKADI SHARIFAT VILLAGE

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) on 24 March 2026, conducted a successful medical outreach at Barkadi Sharifat village, in Kismayo.

During the exercise, over over 100 locals received free essential medical care and were treated for various ailments. Common conditions included urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastritis, and fungal infections. The outreach placed particular emphasis on vulnerable groups with limited access to healthcare services, ensuring that those most in need were reached.

Residents expressed deep appreciation for the medical outreach, noting that the initiative has significantly helped bridge the gap in access to quality healthcare within the local community. Many highlighted the relief of receiving timely treatment close to home, especially given the long distances and challenges often faced in seeking medical attention.

The medical outreach reflects AUSSOM-KDF’s strong commitment to humanitarian support while fostering trust and cooperation between the military and the local community of Barkadi Sharifat.
