On 30 January 2026, the Base Commander Moi Air Base, Brigadier Herbert Wafula, presided over the official closing ceremony of the Safety Awareness Week held at Moi Air Base.
The one-week programme, themed “Every Task, Every Time: Safety Is Our Responsibility”, covered a wide range of safety topics including crash and rescue, road safety, first aid, security, fire safety and financial management, among others.
The programme adopted both practical and theoretical approaches, with participants actively engaging in drills and exercises that made the sessions informative and educative.
Addressing the participants, Brigadier Wafula commended them for their active participation and urged them to continually apply the safety procedures taught for various situations.
“Your participation and professionalism go a long way in demonstrating that the Kenya Air Force is committed to safety, operational excellence and above all operational readiness,” he concluded. The Commanding Officer Flight Safety Wing, Lieutenant Colonel Franklin Bett, encouraged the participants to consistently practise and embrace the safety skills and techniques acquired in order to prevent and mitigate safety hazards.
The ceremony was attended by officers, service members and their families.
