Lang’ata Garrison Secondary School today celebrated a significant milestone as it officially received a newly constructed modern kitchen and dining hall facility courtesy of Lang’ata NG-CDF in a colorful handover ceremony held within the school compound.
The event, attended by the Lang’ata Constituency Member of Parliament Phelix Oduor, Military officials, Education stakeholders, Parents, and Students, marked the culmination of months of collaborative effort aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure and learning environment. The new kitchen and dining hall, which replaces the outdated and undersized facility, is expected to enhance the quality and efficiency of meal preparation for the over 300 students enrolled at the institution.
The Member of Parliament highlighted the steady improvement in student performance at the school and encouraged continued efforts in both infrastructure development and academic excellence. He acknowledged the collaborative role of the government, school leadership, and the community in enhancing the learning environment for students.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Commanding Officer of 7th Kenya Riffles Lieutenant Colonel Ephantus Yegon commended the project team for their commitment and timely completion of the facility.
The School’s Principal, Mrs. Florence Nkirote, expressed her gratitude to Hon. Phelix Odour, the Kenya Defence Forces and other partners who supported the initiative. She noted that the upgraded kitchen and dining hall will help the school meet the nutritional needs of students and improve overall hygiene and safety in food preparation.
The kitchen and dining hall handover is part of a broader effort by the Lang’ata Constituency and the Kenya Defence Forces to uplift learning institutions within military installations and ensure they meet the growing demands of education and student welfare.
