KDF PERSONNEL RESPOND TO FLOOD EMERGENCY IN NAIROBI

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel mainly from the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) were deployed to support rescue and emergency response operations following heavy flooding in Nairobi on the evening of 6 March 2026. The sudden downpour caused severe flooding in several parts of the city, disrupting transport and leaving many commuters stranded along major roads.

The response operations were mainly concentrated in areas where floodwaters had significantly disrupted movement. KDF personnel assisted stranded motorists and pedestrians while working to restore safe passage along the affected routes.

To ensure continued safety, the personnel remained on high alert throughout the night to monitor the situation and respond to any emerging emergencies.
