BUILDING A GREENER FUTURE AT DFRTS

BUILDING A GREENER FUTURE AT DFRTS

In support of environmental conservation and the national campaign to restore Kenya’s forest cover, recruits at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) recently conducted a large-scale tree-planting exercise at Twiga Range.

The exercise forms part of the Government of Kenya’s target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to combat climate change, restore degraded landscapes, and enhance environmental sustainability across the country.

During the exercise, the recruits successfully planted over 10,000 seedlings, demonstrating their commitment not only to national security but also to environmental stewardship. The activity provided the recruits with an opportunity to actively contribute to the preservation of natural resources while reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility within the Kenya Defence Forces.

Speaking during the event, DFRTS leaders commended the recruits for embracing the initiative with dedication and discipline. They emphasized that environmental conservation is a collective responsibility and encouraged the recruits to continue supporting national efforts aimed at safeguarding the country’s natural heritage.

Through such initiatives, DFRTS continues to play a key role in supporting national development programs while nurturing a culture of environmental consciousness among future servicemen and women.
