On 8 January 2026, India’s High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, paid a courtesy call to Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Paul Otieno, at the Kenya Navy Headquarters in Mtongwe.
During the visit, the leaders held discussions on strengthening bilateral defence engagement, with emphasis on capacity building and maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. The engagement highlighted significant milestones achieved through Navy-to-Navy cooperation between India and Kenya.
The delegation visited the Radiology Complex at The Kenya Navy Hospital, a flagship project supported by the Government of India. The facility houses a state-of-the-art CT scan machine, significantly enhancing the Navy’s diagnostic capabilities and improving medical care for service personnel.
At the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC), Dr. Swaika donated 150 books, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to professional military education and human resource development.
Major General Otieno expressed appreciation for India’s pivotal role in supporting the Kenya Navy’s capacity development to address shared maritime and security challenges. Under the Joint Vision Statement ‘BAHARI’, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maritime security, operational readiness, and transforming strategic objectives into tangible outcomes that support regional stability and mutual growth.
