The Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General Bernard Waliaula, on Friday, 13 February 2026, conducted a morale-boosting visit to the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) at Moi Air Base.
The visit was aimed at appreciating and recognising the unit’s swift and professional response during the recent floods that affected parts of the Nairobi Central Business District.
The Rapid Response Unit played a critical role in the search and rescue operations, assisting affected residents and supporting emergency response efforts. While addressing the personnel, Maj Gen Waliaula commended the unit for their courage, discipline and dedication in executing rescue missions under challenging conditions.
“In particular, I want to sincerely commend you for your outstanding response and participation in the recent search and rescue missions during the devastating floods that affected parts of Nairobi CBD,” said Maj Gen Waliaula. He further lauded the unit’s professionalism and unwavering commitment to saving lives during emergencies.
“Your swift response, resilience and dedication saved many lives and brought hope to families who were in distress,” he added.
The Commander reaffirmed that the KDF and KAF leadership remains committed to strengthening the unit’s operational readiness through enhanced training and improved equipment.
