COMMANDER KENYA ARMY ENCOURAGES ROAD SAFETY AT TRANSPORT MANAGERS’ SEMINAR

On May 06, 2025, Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General David Tarus launched a three-day Motor Transport Officers (MTOs) and Motor Transport Warrant Officers’ seminar at Kahawa Garrison. The seminar organised by the Kenya Army Corps of Transport (KACT) aims at fostering a heightened sense of responsibility in ensuring troops’ safety while using road transport.

The discussion also attended by stakeholders from the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) focuses on managers and supervisors of the service transport fleet who are entrusted with vehicle care, drivers’ training, mentorship and administration, all of which are fundamental to road safety.

The Commander emphasized the importance of this learning forum urging participants to share experiences and ideas likely to enhance safety for service personnel and other road users.

“This seminar is a clarion call to action; the insights that we share here will directly contribute to saving lives and reinforcing our proud heritage of discipline and accountability,” he noted.

Prior to the managers’ seminar, road safety awareness sessions have been held across various regions to sensitize drivers on courteous and defensive driving with a view to addressing road traffic accidents.

In attendance were Commander Kahawa Garrison Brigadier Mathew Lenamunai, Garrison Corps Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers, Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers drawn from the three Kenya Defence Forces’ Services.
