Major General Paul Otieno, Commander Kenya Navy, today visited Kenya Navy personnel stationed at Maritime Surveillance Squadron (MARSS) Stations in Kilifi County.
The visit focused on engaging with naval personnel and reinforcing Kenya Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Kenya’s territorial waters.
In his address to the troops, Major General Otieno emphasized the importance of advanced training, modern equipment and continuous institutional support while conducting maritime security.
“As guardians of Kenya’s maritime security, you play a crucial role not only in defence but in ensuring the security of Kenya’s maritime economy,” he stated.
He reaffirmed that Kenya Navy operates with unity and shared purpose in defending the country’s maritime interests. He urged the personnel to remain vigilant and responsive, particularly in light of increasing regional threats within the maritime domain.
Major General Otieno highlighted the strategic importance of the MARSS Stations in monitoring maritime security and commitment to the mandate of safeguarding Kenya’s maritime interests.
