Militaries continue investing in university education because it directly builds the intellectual capabilities essential for modern leadership and strategic success. This investment develops officers who are not just tacticians, but strategic thinkers capable of navigating complex and rapidly evolving global threats. In line with this commitment, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) on 17/06/2026 hosted a high level delegation from the Commission for University Education (CUE), accompanied by a team from the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), for a comprehensive institutional quality audit which evaluates compliance with the Universities Standards and Guidelines 2014 and the Universities Act 2012.
The ten member CUE delegation was led by Prof Mabel Imbuga, while the NDU-K team was led by Prof Anne Muigai, DVC for Academic and Student Affairs, NDU-K. The visiting team assessed key institutional areas including physical facilities, governance and management, academic programmes, finance, library services and other critical components.
Upon arrival, Prof. Imbuga and Prof. Muigai paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of JCSC, Major General Eric Kinuthia. The delegation then received a detailed briefing on the College’s operations and later undertook a guided tour of the facilities to evaluate the infrastructure supporting learning.In his remarks, Major General Kinuthia expressed gratitude to the CUE team for their visit and reaffirmed the College’s dedication to continuous quality improvement.
